Our School
We are proud to serve a diverse community of students, aged 11-16 years, on our two sites in South West Leicester. Fullhurst Community College opened in 1991 following the closure of King Richard III School and Newarke School. Initially located on the King Richard site while a significant refurbishment of the Newarke site took place, we moved into the Newarke buildings in 1992.
We were the first school in Leicester to be rebuilt under the ‘Building Schools for the Future’ Programme, but retaining our 1930’s red brick façade and clock tower at the rear of the new design. This iconic symbol of the school in the local community is the original entrance and helps to retain the character of the existing school. The school is a combination of high quality modern design and technology whilst preserving some of the architectural features of the old building.
Our £15million new Fosse Campus opened its doors in 2019 and has enabled us to expand our student population to 1500 from September 2020. Our Year 7 and 8 students begin their journey with us on Fosse Campus while the 9, 10 and 11 Year-groups are based at our Imperial Campus.
“Staff work hard to maintain the schools many strengths and improve the school further. There is a clear-sighted focus on improving GCSE outcomes, combined with a deep-seated moral commitment to serving the needs of the young people in the area, especially the most vulnerable.”
