Sky Sports Leaders visit the FA’s National Football Centre
The year 9 Sky Sports Leaders had an amazing day visiting St George’s Park, the FA’s National Football Centre, home to all 24 England teams ahead of international fixtures and even managed to bump into England Manager, Gareth Southgate!
The visit was designed to highlight different career paths in sport such as coaching, strength and conditioning as well as the elite athlete lifestyle. The students had a unique, behind-the-scenes tour of St George's Park, visiting the England changing rooms, first team pitch, strength and conditioning centre and the dome. The day ended with a 90 minute coaching session with one of the England youth team coaches which involved technical, tactical, psychological and physical challenges.
The group were even fortunate enough to bump into England Manager, Gareth Southgate who kindly posed for a group photo and a couple of selfies! One of the student's commented: "It was a very interesting and fun filled day. It was a great opportunity as I love football and it was amazing to meet Gareth Southgate!"
