Curriculum Intent

We aim to develop the students’ ability to confidently and independently solve problems in Maths.  This approach will allow them to apply logic and analytical methods to develop their passion and understanding of numeracy, enabling them to be confident and self-assured when dealing with numbers both in the classroom and out in the real world.  Through high-quality teaching, students will become independent and resilient in solving problems and develop academically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

Students can grasp key mathematical concepts through the incorporation of key steps in each topic, that are tailored for the ability of the student (support, core, and extension strands).

We provide a scheme that allows students to easily progress between strands, allowing for greater progress.

Students have a single curriculum that extends from Year 7 to Year 11 to allow both students and staff to see the end goal of their education. Throughout the course, students are set weekly homework on MathsWatch to consolidate understanding, identify gaps and address any misconceptions they may have.

Have a look at the video below for an overview of the Year7 and 8 Maths Curriculum.
